TIME
The present, night time
PLACE
A college dorm room, decorated with many photos and posters, bordering on cluttered due to the small size of the room. School books are tossed haphazardly onto the beds and desk chairs, two open notebooks on the throw rug.
--------------------
(The four girls are crammed into the room. MARY reclines on her bed, with CLAIRE sitting cross legged by her feet. ALLISON sits with her back to a desk, and ELIZABETH is sitting by the notebooks.)
ALLISON
You know, we still need to pick a movie.
CLAIRE
I don’t wanna pick one!
ALLISON
We’re still going to be sitting here in like, two hours going “What should we watch?”
CLAIRE
I know.
MARY
I kind of want to watch Sleepy Hollow.
ELIZABETH
Oh! I got Benny & Joon for Christmas.
ALLISON
Aww, that movie is so cute.
CLAIRE
I’ve only watched it on TV.
ELIZABETH
I watched it by myself because no one else wanted to watch it. I was like “Darn it!”
MARY
So they bought it for you…and they’re like…
ELIZABETH
My sister did, yeah…and she’s like “What should I get you? I know, I’ll get you a Johnny movie.” I’m like “Okay!”
ALLISON
Oh, you know what my parents did? They got me Collateral for Christmas.
ALL
Ooh.
ALLISON
And then I haven’t seen it yet, but my parents like it…so they kept it while I came back up here. And they’re going to send it to me. Eventually.
CLAIRE
Aww, that’s too bad.
ALLISON
I was like…okay.
ELIZABETH
Oh God, that’s funny.
CLAIRE
I wanted to see that too.
ALLISON
I know. They’ll send it to me some day.
(laughter)
ELIZABETH
That’s funny.
MARY
What was that about?
ALLISON
I don’t know, I haven’t seen it yet!
(laughter)
ALLISON
“It’s so good; we’re going to keep this!”
CLAIRE
What was that movie, that was…um, there was a preview on TV, that I wanted to see...it had the guy that plays Morpheus in the Matrix...something 13?
ALLISON
Um um um…Precinct 13?
CLAIRE
Yeah, Alex saw that…and he’s like, that’s the first time I thought a movie was violent in like every way.
ALLISON
I thought Alex liked violence?
CLAIRE
Well not all the time.
ALLISON
Oh.
ELIZABETH
Wait—
CLAIRE
Oh gosh.
ALLISON
Only when he’s mad.
ELIZABETH
Did you say the movie’s violent in every way or it’s not? I missed that entirely.
CLAIRE
Well, he was kind of like…”I’ve never seen a movie that’s really, really violent, but this is.” And I was like “Oh, I really want to see it.”
MARY
It must be really if a guy’s saying that.
CLAIRE & ELIZABETH
Yeah.
ALLISON
I hate guy movies…well, I like most guy movies.
ELIZABETH
Guy movies?
ALLISON
But guy movies, I don’t like.
(Pause—laughter)
ALLISON
Like…Terminator? No.
CLAIRE
I never liked that, it’s stupid.
MARY
Terminator 2 rocks though.
ELIZABETH
I haven’t seen it.
ALLISON
I haven’t seen any of these like, bang ‘em up, bang the chicks flicks.
MARY
No, Termi---
(laughter)
ELIZABETH
Oh, Allison.
MARY
Terminator’s not a bang em up, bang the chicks movie! It’s a good movie.
ALLISON
But Terminator 3 has that slut with the rotating hips.
(laughter)
MARY
Terminator’s a good series…
CLAIRE
I saw the 3rd one…
ELIZABETH
I never saw that, but I saw previews.
ALLISON
Yeah! That’s what I’m talking about.
MARY
Terminator 2 has…Eddie, Eddie…not Norton but the other Eddie I love. In Pecker.
ALLISON
Oh, yeah. I know—
(laughter)
It’s a good movie! Even though it’s called Pecker.
MARY
Oh! Eddie Furlong!
ALLISON
Yeah!
MARY
Yeah, that was a good movie. We should watch it sometime.
ALL
Yeah, okay.
CLAIRE
But, uh…what’re watching now?

what are you trying to put across.
Is a scene in the middle of others. Or does it stand on its own?
